JOSHUA Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith looked chic — and very much together — as they attended the COS Autumn / Winter 2023 event in New York City . But according to divorce papers filed Oct . 2 , the couple of nearly four years separated a day after the star-studded event . No wonder , a source tells Star , the Dawson ’ s Creek alum was blindsided ! “ Certainly they had their issues , but Joshua didn ’ t realize that Jodie was this unhappy ” says the insider . “ She seems to have been planning it for a while .”
And she means business : The 37-year-old model has hired power lawyer Laura Wasser to handle the proceedings . However , in the filing — which lists “ irreconcilable differences ” as the cause — she ’ s not making huge demands . The British beauty is asking for joint custody of the pair ’ s 3-year-old daughter , Juno , and to take spousal support off the table for both her and Josh , 45 . The pair had no prenup . “ Jodie seems sure of her decision ,” adds the insider . “ She ’ s thought it through .”
Still , friends are “ baffled ” by the split , continues the insider . “ Everyone is still shaking their heads .” After the pair were introduced by mutual friends in 2018 , things moved quickly . “ When I first met my husband , we had a one-night stand ,” Jodie confessed in 2021 . “ We ’ re in a two- , three-year one-night stand now .” They wed in 2019 after she proposed on New Year ’ s Eve . Their daughter was born in April 2020 . “ It was a huge lifestyle change , especially for a free spirit like Jodie ,” adds the insider . “ But they seemed so devoted to each other , friends are hoping there ’ s still a chance for reconciliation .” ★
